Consultant Psychiatrist
Dr Declan Murray


Declan has 30 years’ experience working in psychiatry in Ireland and the UK.
In his clinical work he leads teams in community psychiatry and dialectical
behavior therapy (CBT for patients with serious multiple problems). His interest in forensic psychiatry includes personal injury, workplace and disability assessments. He has worked as a full time Inpatient Consultant. He is a graduate of University College Dublin and teaches at The University of Limerick. He has been on the board of examiners of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (London) since 1997.

Declan has very considerable expertise in the areas of workplace and disability assessment. He is a leading pioneer in promoting the use of detailed psychometric testing as part of the independent psychiatric assessment process and these particular tests can be helpful in determining if there is any exaggeration or feigning of symptoms present on examination.

Ms Emer Hinphey
(of ThinkPeople Consulting)

Emer has over 14 years’ experience within Human Resources in a variety of sectors in both large and small organisations. She has worked with senior teams and executives to support strategic planning and implementation as well as advising on complex or challenging people related issues.

Emer has strong experience in the area of organisational development and talent management.

Projects have included the development and implementation of a talent management programme for a UK wide division of a global bank, culture audits and development, competency framework development and design and delivery of bespoke training ranging from Leadership Development programmes to people management skills training. In addition, Emer has hands on experience of HR strategy development, implementing large and small scale redundancy programmes, TUPE, policy development and ER issues.

Prior to moving into consultancy, Emer worked as HR Manager for a large Financial Services company and then as Head of HR for a Telecommunications & Internet company.

Educated at the University of Ulster, Emer holds an Occupational Psychology Degree and MBA. Emer currently lectures on the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development Postgraduate course at Queen’s University Belfast.

  • The event will take place in the Irish Life Centre, Lower Abbey Street, Conference Room A. Please come into the Reception Area on the Ground Floor of the Irish Life Centre at 12.00pm for registration.
